Working in the NDIS: An Operational Workshop for Orthotist/Prosthetists

Attendees will attain the necessary skills to prepare, register and begin providing services with the NDIS.

1.Understanding the NDIS: Operation, Scope and Purpose

Develop an in-depth understanding of the purpose of the NDIS as well as the legislation that underpins its operation. Speakers will examine and explain the role of providers, local area coordinators (LAC), existing state schemes and the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).

2.Preparing for the NDIS

Attendees will attain the necessary skills to begin preparing for the NDIS. This session will allow providers to understand the NDIS Terms of Business and the steps necessary to comply with relevant legislation as well as State and Territory regulations. Presenters will consider the business opportunities that the NDIS presents.

3.Registration: Step-by-Step

Speakers will facilitate a step-by-step guide to registration, including authentication, creating a myplace account, selecting the correct registration groups, understanding the declaration of suitability and reviewing pricing structures.

4.Participant Plans & Service Agreements

Learn about participant plans and the role of an orthotist/prosthetist. Discover how participant plans are developed and how issues can be identified. Then nd out about the importance of service agreements and how they can be created.

5.Using the Provider Portal

Discover how to use the provider portal from an experienced orthotic and prosthetic provider. Learn how to create and accept a service booking, provide services, submit a payment request, receive payment, make changes and close service bookings.

6.Correct Quoting and Clinical Justification

Find out how to correctly use the AOPA clinical justification and quoting tools as well as the P&O Assessment Templates. Begin to develop your own forms for use in your own practice. Hear about the support request review process and understand correct prescription practices.

7.Conclusion and Troubleshooting

Learn how to troubleshoot issues and contact the relevant team to resolve them. Understand AOPA’s role in providing feedback and
when, and how, to contact the NDIS.

This full-day workshop will take place on the 31st of March at Mantra Bell City. Located just 20 minutes from Melbourne at 215 Bell St Preston.
